Last Straw: Israel is No Ally, We Must Cut All Aid to Israel

I have never before supported cutting ALL aid to Israel. However, I do now. Israel is no ally of the U.S. Rather, it is a petulant, spoiled client state that seems to delight in treating it’s superpower benefactor like little more than a useful idiot that screams “how high” when Israeli leaders scream “jump.” The total disrespect that Israel has shown to the President, Secretary of State, US taxpayer etc. in return for our unlimited, unquestioning military, economic, diplomatic and military support is a fucking disgrace.

In a little noticed move this week the pathetic poodles (Secretary Panetta) at the Department of Defense, having been chastised by PM Netanyahu for daring to say that war with Iran might not be in the US’ best interest, requested an extra $100 million to give to Israel as way of apology for daring to suggest US interests should be paramount to the US administration. What was the response of our members of Congress, all of whom line their pockets with AIPAC money and spout every Lobby talking point, no matter how ridiculous? They approved over $220 million for Israel. This is on top of the over $3 billion they get a year. And yet, if you are elderly and can’t pay your Medicare prescription drug benefit, the US government says “fuck you.” Lest anyone have any question about which matters more, Jewish votes and appeasing the Israel First community, or taking care of US citizens, it should be crystal clear now.

From Haaretz:

Israel and the U.S. are discussing “red lines” in Iran’s nuclear program, that if crossed would justify a preemptive strike on its nuclear facilities, the Daily Beast website reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S., Michael Oren, filed an official complaint with the administration following a speech by U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta a few weeks ago, warning against a military strike on Iran.

The Daily Beast reported that Panetta’s statements infuriated the Israeli government, which ordered ambassador Oren to file the complaint. The White House then relayed a message to Israel saying the administration has its own “red lines” concerning a strike on Iran, and that Israel does not need to act unilaterally. Israel’s protest also resulted in Panetta reversing his stand in an interview with CBS, saying the U.S. will use any means necessary to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

How pathetic is that? Israel filed a complaint against the United States? Rather than ordering Panetta to reverse his stance, Obama, Hillary and everyone else within pissing distance of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue should have told Benyamin Netanyahu to go fuck himself.

Now contrast how the US acts to how Germany’s Angela Merkel responds to Israel’s never-ending petulance and slaps in the face- she ensures there are consequences for treating the sovereign (and increasingly powerful) state of Germany like a doormat- when Bibi refused to hand over hundreds of millions of dollars tbelonging to the Palestinian Authority Merkel told Bibi he could kiss the dolphin nuclear subs she was going to give him goodbye. His response? He switched gears and returned the money to the Palestinian Authority. In other words, Merkel refuses to enable Israel’s self-defeating determination to destroy itself as it collapses under the weight of its own hypocrisy, its addiction to the never-ending occupation, increasingly anti-democratic tendencies and colonial mentality.

It’s always nice to hear that another country is more important to our lawmakers than the American middle class is in these trying economic times. The fact that our Defense Secretary cannot put the interests of the country he works for ahead of those of a sovereign nation that is quite capable of taking care of itself in most situations is lunacy. Perhaps the people of Israel should be allowed to vote in US elections since our government seems to do a better job working for them than they do for us.

I love Angela Merkel. If I had the money, and wasn’t so interested in US policy, I be learning German and pondering a move.

Hey all, hope everyone is having a good holiday. I just got back from a family trip and have to catch up on news and blogging.

That Israel would lodge a formal complaint against a sitting Secretary of Defense is truly remarkable. More remarkable is that the Obama admin. would order Panetta to walk back his statements and toss an extra 250 million Israel”s way. It’s sort of a form a prostitution and rather unseemly.

    Hope all is well.

Glad to see you posting stacy!

ps. discourse, I agree with you about Germany. I might also recommend the Scandinavian countries like Norway, Iceland etc. šŸ˜‰

    Happy New Year!

The US taxpayer should lodge a complaint against Israel. They are cutting food stamps for US citizens but Israel gets the whole money tree.

Anyone who puts the interests of a foreign country, ANY foreign country, before those of the US should be frog marched out of Congress.

Hope everyone is well and surviving the holidays.
